North Carolina A&T enters the 2026-27 academic year with significant momentum. These milestones demonstrate the university's growing capacity to educate talent, conduct transformative research, foster innovation and collaborate with partners on opportunities that create economic and societal impact.
AMERICA'S NO. 1 PUBLIC HBCU
Forbes named North Carolina A&T the No. 1 public historically Black college or university in America in its inaugural ranking of the nation's HBCUs.
The recognition reflects A&T's strong return on investment, affordability, graduate earnings and continued institutional growth.

15,700 STUDENTS AND GROWING

Largest Freshman Class Heralds Uninterrupted 13-Year Growth Streak |
N.C. A&T welcomed an estimated 15,700 undergraduate and graduate students this fall, including a record 3,214 first-year students, extending the university's uninterrupted enrollment growth to 13 years.
Why it matters to our partners: A growing and academically strong student population expands the pipeline of Aggie talent available to employers and collaborators.

$16.9M NIH AWARD TO ADVANCE HEALTH DISPARITIES RESEARCH |
North Carolina A&T has received a five-year, $16.9 million award from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to establish a new research center focused on reducing health disparities.
The Research Centers in Minority Institutions center will be housed in the John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences and will initially focus on brain health research, including support for two R01-scale research projects.
Why it matters to our partners: This investment strengthens A&T’s capacity to conduct high-impact health research and creates new opportunities for collaboration across health care, research, technology and community-based organizations working to improve health outcomes.

$113.3 MILLION IN RESEARCH FUNDING
|
N.C. A&T faculty researchers secured $113.3 million in research contracts and grants in FY26, bringing the university's five-year total to more than $556 million.
Faculty also submitted a record 511 research proposals during the fiscal year.
Why it matters to our partners: A&T's expanding research enterprise creates greater opportunities for industry-sponsored research, technology development, faculty collaboration and innovation.

EXPANDING DEFENSE RESEARCH CAPACITY WITH INAUGURAL $10M DOW GRANT |
The U.S. Department of War has named N.C. A&T an inaugural recipient of a five-year, $10 million grant to establish Accelerate-DAQ, a project focused on expanding A&T’s defense research capacity in artificial intelligence, autonomy, cyber resilience and quantum systems.
Why it matters to our partners: Investments of this scale strengthen A&T's ability to collaborate on emerging technologies and complex research challenges with government and industry.

CONNECTING INDUSTRY WITH AGGIE TALENT AT THE "GREATEST CAREER FAIR EVER"
|
More than 400 employers participated in A&T's 2026 Fall Career Fair on Sept. 16, connecting organizations with students seeking internships, cooperative education experiences and full-time career opportunities.
The event still remains the largest fall career fair in the University of North Carolina System held at First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
Why it matters to our partners: A&T provides employers with access to a large, multidisciplinary talent pipeline prepared to contribute to today's and tomorrow's workforce.

The Resurgent: Collaboration Creating Community Impact |
The opening of The Resurgent in East Greensboro April 2026 demonstrates what is possible when organizations align their resources, expertise and vision around a shared goal.
Developed by the North Carolina A&T Real Estate Foundation in partnership with Cone Health, the 54,000-square-foot mixed-use facility combines health care, education, and economic development.
The Resurgent is expanding access to health care for thousands of residents, and is in the process of providing clinical learning opportunities for A&T nursing students
The result is more than a new facility. It is an example of how strategic partnerships can strengthen communities, develop talent, expand opportunity and create lasting economic impact.
